Application of Robbery and Murder Charges
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] A man in his 40s, accused of breaking into a neighbor's apartment, believing they had a lot of money, stealing cash, and killing a woman in her 60s, has been sent to prosecution in custody.
On the morning of the 4th, the Gangseo Police Station in Seoul applied charges of robbery and murder against Park, a man in his 40s, and sent him to the Southern District Prosecutors' Office in custody.
At around 7:39 a.m. that day, Park, wearing a black tracksuit with a red stripe and a hat worn backwards, came out of the detention center and did not answer any questions from reporters such as "How much money did you need to commit the crime?", "Why did you tie the victim's hands and feet?", "Why did you think the victim had a lot of money?", and "Do you have any words for the bereaved family?" Afterwards, Park got into the transport vehicle and was taken to the Southern District Prosecutors' Office.
Park is accused of tying up parts of the body, including hands and feet, and killing a woman in her 60s at an apartment in Deungchon-dong, Gangseo-gu, at 3:46 p.m. on the 22nd of last month, and stealing money.
Subsequently, on the afternoon of the 27th of last month, Kwon Giman, the judge in charge of warrants at the Seoul Southern District Court, conducted a pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant review) for Park and issued an arrest warrant, citing "risk of flight."
During the police investigation, Park stated, "I broke in and killed the victim, whom I was acquainted with as a neighbor, expecting that she would have a lot of money." It is also known that he committed the crime while struggling to prepare moving and eviction costs for the rental apartment where he lived.
