Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education to Promote On-site Consulting After Omicron

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 3rd that it conducted on-site consulting to support schools promoting the restoration of daily educational activities in the post-Omicron era.

On this day, Director of Education Jo Jeong-ja and officials visited Mokpo Yeongsan Elementary School, listened to the current status and difficulties of school education recovery in response to post-Omicron through the faculty, and sought improvement measures.

Mokpo Yeongsan Elementary School had 60% of its students infected with Omicron in March and April, but operated the curriculum stably by running some remote classes per class according to its own BCP (Business Continuity Plan) and receiving substitute teacher support from retired teachers provided by the Education Support Office.

In particular, in preparation for daily life recovery in May, from mid-April, the school normalized face-to-face classes, experiential learning, survival swimming, sports day, and prepared for the second semester field trip. It is also conducting athletics club activities in preparation for an off-campus athletics competition and library programs with parents.

Director of Education Jo Jeong-ja stated, “I am grateful to all students, parents, and teachers who have worked hard on-site to overcome COVID-19 over the past two years, and after COVID-19, the entire educational community will collaborate to create a safe school and do our best for educational recovery.”

Meanwhile, Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education is providing basic academic individual tutoring programs, manpower support, teacher training, and guidance plans for early literacy and basic numeracy.
