Ssangyong Motor sells 8,140 units domestically and internationally in April, up 86% YoY New Rexton Sports Khan

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] SsangYong Motor announced on the 3rd that it sold 4,839 units domestically last month. Including 3,301 units exported, a total of 8,140 units were sold in the past month. This represents an approximately 86% increase compared to the same period last year, surpassing 8,000 units for two consecutive months.

The company explained, "Despite supply constraints of parts such as semiconductors, overall sales recovery led to an increase of more than 80% compared to the same month last year when production disruptions occurred."

According to the company, the current volume waiting for delivery is estimated to be over 10,000 units. Although production schedules are being adjusted and specifications modified to minimize supply delays, parts supply issues continue.

Domestic sales increased by about 46% during the same period, supported by the new Rexton Sports & Khan, which saw a 63% increase compared to the same month last year. Tivoli also contributed to the performance with about a 38% increase in sales. From January to April this year, domestic sales alone reached 19,317 units, about 21% higher than the same period last year.

Exports are also showing a clear recovery. The new Rexton Sports & Khan doubled sales during the same period, driving overall performance. Exports from January to April totaled 12,101 units, a 72% increase compared to the previous year.

SsangYong Motor stated, "Despite supply constraints of parts such as semiconductors, we minimized supply delays and both domestic and export sales increased compared to the same month last year. Especially as exports are rapidly recovering, we will make every effort to ensure semiconductor and other supplies to resolve backlog volumes."
