Manage Bank Tasks at Home via Olleh TV... Shinhan Bank-KT 'Home Branch' Partnership


[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Shinhan Bank announced on the 3rd that it has signed a strategic partnership with KT for the AI-based video consultation service "Home Branch," which utilizes KT Olleh TV's voice recognition technology.


Home Branch is a home-based branch that provides AI-based video consultation services using the voice recognition technology of "Giga Genie" on Shinhan Bank's channel within KT Olleh TV, allowing customers to have real-time financial consultations and simple transactions with bank staff through their TV.


This partnership is one of the concrete cases of cooperation items from the strategic partnership signed between Shinhan Bank and KT in January to leap forward as a digital company.


Based on this partnership, Shinhan Bank and KT plan to collaborate on ▲service model development and commercialization ▲customer experience improvement and expansion of cooperation models ▲joint marketing for service activation to commercialize Home Branch.


In particular, Home Branch is applying an AI banker to provide simple responses and consultation reservations through Olleh TV even after bank branch business hours, and is reviewing advanced plans such as linking with Shinhan SOL to enable actual banking tasks like transfers and product subscriptions.


Additionally, to improve accessibility for senior customers who are not familiar with digital devices, the screen will be designed with a simple UI, and KT's advanced security technology will be applied to enable safe financial transactions.


A Shinhan Bank official said, "With KT, which has the largest IPTV subscriber base in Korea, we aim to provide customers with a new experience of comfortably using financial services at home through the Home Branch service," adding, "We will continue to closely cooperate with technology companies in various fields to discover diverse business models for digital innovation in finance."
