Democratic Party Seoul Chapter to Announce Primary Results from Polls Conducted Feb 1-2; Six Seoul District Mayor Candidates Confirmed Including Dobong's Kim Yongseok, Seodaemun's Park Woonki, and Gangbuk's Lee Soonhee
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The Seoul Metropolitan Party of the Democratic Party of Korea confirmed Yoo Chan-jong as the candidate for Jongno District Mayor and Kim Seon-gap as the candidate for Gwangjin District Mayor on the afternoon of the 2nd.
The Democratic Party announced the results of the opinion poll primaries held from the 1st to the 2nd, selecting Choi Dong-min as the candidate for Dongdaemun District Mayor, Kim Yong-seok for Dobong District Mayor, Park Woon-gi for Seodaemun District Mayor, and Lee Soon-hee for Gangbuk District Mayor.
Yoo Chan-jong, elected as the candidate for Jongno District Mayor and former Seoul City Council member, won with 46% of the vote, defeating candidates Ko Byung-guk and Kim Bok-dong, and will compete in the general election against Jeong Moon-heon, former two-term National Assembly member from the People Power Party.
Kim Seon-gap, the current Gwangjin District Mayor and candidate, received 63% of the vote, defeating candidate Jo Hyung-guk, and will face Kim Kyung-ho, former Seoul City Council Secretary-General from the People Power Party, in the general election.
Choi Dong-min, former Blue House administrator and candidate for Dongdaemun District Mayor, who was selected among four candidates with the highest competition rate, received 41% of the vote, defeating Kim In-ho, Yoon Jong-il, and Ji Yong-ho, and will face Lee Pil-hyung, former Blue House administrator from the People Power Party, in the general election.
Kim Yong-seok, Seoul City Council member and candidate for Dobong District Mayor, received 57% of the vote, defeating former Seoul City Council member Kim Dong-wook, and will compete against Oh Eun-seok from the People Power Party in the general election.
Park Woon-gi, candidate for Seodaemun District Mayor and former Seoul City Council member, received 38% of the vote, defeating current Seoul City Council members Jo Sang-ho and Shin Won-chul, and will face Lee Seong-heon, former two-term National Assembly member from the People Power Party.
Additionally, Lee Soon-hee, candidate for Gangbuk District Mayor, received 51% of the vote, defeating Seoul City Council member Choi Seon, and will compete against Lee Seong-hee, former Seoul City Council member from the People Power Party, in the general election.
With this, the candidate lineups for district mayors from both the Democratic Party and the People Power Party in Seoul are gradually taking shape, signaling the start of a full-scale election campaign.
