[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Dongseo University has been selected for the ‘Phase 3 Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Leading University Development Project (LINC 3.0)’ demand-customized growth type by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea.


Since 2012, Dongseo University has been carrying out the Industry-Academia Cooperation Leading University Development Project, establishing and implementing its own unique industry-academia cooperation model.


With this LINC 3.0 project selection, the university will accelerate ‘industry-academia-research cooperation in the meta-technology-based cultural content field’ to respond to future society. It will receive at least 24 billion KRW in government funding over six years starting from 2022.


Dongseo University has presented the vision of becoming a ‘world-class specialized field industry-academia-research cooperation model university.’


It operates the LINC 3.0 project group with goals of innovating the industry-academia-research cooperation platform, fostering convergence talents in the content field, and leading technology development innovation centered on ICC.


The project group plans to establish and operate six major promotion strategies in the areas of industry-academia-research cooperation system, talent cultivation, and technology development and commercialization, linked with content industry condition analysis, university specialization fields, and mid- to long-term industry-academia cooperation development plans.


Among the six major promotion strategies, in the industry-academia-research cooperation system area, it plans to △ promote the advancement of the sustainability of the industry-academia-research cooperation system △ build the Industry-Academia Cooperation ISCD (Information Sharing Capability Diagnosis) platform to efficiently manage industry cooperation information and outcomes.


In the talent cultivation area, it will △ establish the IFS3.0 education innovation model △ and the 3-aXis global education model.


IFS (In-school Field System) is an on-campus field system built by Dongseo University tailored to major characteristics, and based on this, it plans to operate the industry-linked IFS3.0 education innovation model.


This education innovation model is a systematic hiring-linked corporate agreement curriculum consisting of the IFS3.0 Corporate Track, IFS3.0-PBL teaching method, and JIT200 (industry-academia course), serving as a demand-customized future talent cultivation model for new industry fields.


In the technology development and commercialization area, it aims to △ operate the XCCT complex model △ and foster global companies in new industry fields.


XCCT (eXtended Contents, Culture and Technology) Complex is the hub for talent cultivation, research and development, and commercialization in the cultural content field in the southeastern region.


Additionally, through sharing and collaboration with universities in other regions in the content field, it plans to collaborate in talent cultivation, technology development, and commercialization, and promote sustainability and self-reliance of the industry-academia-research cooperation leading model through performance dissemination and feedback.


Hwang Ki-hyun, head of Dongseo University’s LINC 3.0 project group, said, “Based on the achievements of industry-academia cooperation, we will contribute to job creation in future new industry fields through accumulated new technologies, talent cultivation, technology development, and commercialization.”
