[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] NHN's subsidiary NHN Edu announced on the 2nd that it has attracted an investment of 32 billion KRW from two firms, Notic Investment and BNW Investment.
With this investment, NHN Edu plans to solidify its position as a leading edutech company. It aims to enhance the education platform service "I am School," which has secured 6.7 million members, and accelerate the production and operation of educational metaverse content.
First, the existing I am School service will be divided into a "school notification reception-only service" and a "parent community" to provide tailored support for each user group. The school service will be expanded to an institution-exclusive service supporting not only school news but also administrative management, while parents will be able to choose services according to their needs, focusing on securing loyal customers.
Additionally, NHN Edu plans to create a virtuous cycle of data aimed at building an educational metaverse platform that students can enjoy accessing and that parents and teachers can trust. Furthermore, the company is considering investing in or acquiring outstanding edutech startups to further enhance NHN Edu’s services.
Yeowon Dong, CEO of NHN Edu, stated, "We will become an edutech company that provides essential technologies and services for both the present and future generations and the global education market, raising the quality of education to the next level."
