Free Bicycle Self-Cleaning Available from 9 AM to 6 PM at Gwangjin-gu Bicycle Comprehensive Service Center in Front of Gangbyeon Station... Air Cleaning Method Using 4.5 HP Air Compressor

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwangjin-gu is offering free self-service bicycle air (AIR) cleaning and helmet rental services at the Bicycle Comprehensive Service Center.

Bicycle air cleaning is a method that uses a 4.5-horsepower air compressor to blow away accumulated fine dust and grease from the bicycle with air.

Residents who want to clean their bicycles can visit the Gwangjin-gu Bicycle Comprehensive Service Center located in front of Gangbyeon Station every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and use the service for free without a reservation. The center is closed on Lunar New Year, Chuseok holidays, and Christmas, and operates only until 2 p.m. on the last Wednesday of every month.

To enable bicycle users to clean their bicycles themselves, air compressors, cleaning agents, and vinyl gloves are provided, and service center staff kindly guide users on how to use them.

For thorough cleaning, first, use the powerful air from the air compressor to remove fine dust and grease from the bicycle frame, front and rear wheels, pedal fasteners, and chain. Then, wash the bicycle body with frame cleaner and the chain with chain cleaner to complete the self-cleaning process. However, electric bicycles, electric kickboards, and high-end bicycles that are at risk of damage are excluded from the cleaning service.

Additionally, the Gwangjin-gu Bicycle Comprehensive Service Center rents out 50 bicycle and personal mobility device (PM) helmets that have been thoroughly sterilized using a helmet sterilizer free of charge.

Gwangjin-gu expects this service to help prevent the shortening of bicycle lifespan, support safe and convenient bicycle use, and contribute to the activation of eco-friendly bicycle use without concerns about carbon emissions.
