Gyeongbuk Tourism with Camping, 3 Days from the 29th at Daegu EXCO

220 Companies and 780 Booths Participating Including Vehicles, Equipment, Leisure Sports, and Meal Kits

'Camping to Gyeongbuk!' ... 2022 Korea Camping Expo Opens The largest regional camping expo was held at Daegu EXCO.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Spring, the season of camping has truly returned. Over the past two years with COVID-19, camping has emerged as a major trend for enjoying a contactless lifestyle.

Riding the wave of this camping travel popularity, a large-scale camping expo has been organized in the region.

From April 29 to May 1, the 2022 Korea Camping Expo will be held for three days at Daegu EXCO (East Hall Exhibition Halls 4-6). Marking its second anniversary this year, the exhibition is sponsored by Gyeongbuk Province and Daegu City.

More than 220 leading camping-related companies are participating, with approximately 780 booths, making it the largest camping expo in the region.

Visitors can easily see and enjoy all information related to camping in one place, including camping site information in Daegu and Gyeongbuk, camping vehicles, tents, various camping supplies, and food items such as meal kits.

At the opening ceremony on the 29th, Kang Seong-jo, Deputy Governor of Gyeongbuk Province, and Jeong Haeyong, Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs of Daegu City, attended, toured the exhibition hall, encouraged participating company workers, and personally took part in experience events.

Despite being a weekday, over 10,000 visitors came to the venue, clearly showing the growing interest in the camping industry among the rapidly increasing number of campers entering the full season.

The exhibition hall features booths for camping vehicles, camping supplies, outdoor and leisure sports equipment, fishing gear, camping food, city and county promotional booths, and a joint Daegu-Gyeongbuk promotional pavilion, along with various side events for visitors.

The Gyeongbuk Province promotional pavilion is themed as a ‘small Hobbit village in a forest from a movie,’ designed as an emotionally rich camping zone with military natural concept zones and glamping concept zones, evoking eco-friendly campsites harmonized with the region’s nature.

Additionally, camping promotional booklets that clearly organize local camping sites are distributed, and an online Gyeongbuk tourism event is promoted through games, with participants receiving Gyeongbuk tourism souvenirs in an experience event.

Daegu and Gyeongbuk’s representative camping car specialist companies such as FF Camping Car, First RV, Jeil Mobile, and Kite are exhibiting various types of camping cars, while excellent local camping supply companies, including Camping Whale, the largest camping supply company in Korea, are displaying and selling competitive products.

For residents who find it difficult to attend in person, a live broadcast is operated on the Maeil Shinmun YouTube channel daily, and through various events, prizes such as coffee coupons, hand sanitizers, and meal kits are generously provided.

Kang Seong-jo, Deputy Governor of Gyeongbuk Province, said, “Gyeongbuk has more than 300 campsites set against rivers, mountains, and seas where you can comfortably enjoy camping as if at home. We hope you fully enjoy the clean nature in Gyeongbuk this spring with peace of mind,” and added, “We hope this will be an opportunity for the excellent camping-related industries in Daegu and the pristine campsites in Gyeongbuk to achieve mutual growth through a fantastic collaboration.”
