[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] Kim Eun-hye, the People Power Party candidate for Gyeonggi Province governor, announced her resignation from the National Assembly.


On the 28th, Kim posted on her Facebook, "With a more solemn heart than ever, I resign from my position as a member of the National Assembly today."


She said, "I will deeply cherish the meaning of the Bundang residents sending me to the National Assembly," and added, "To repay the support of the Bundang residents and to meet the expectations of the people of Gyeonggi Province, I will definitely become the governor of Gyeonggi Province so that the lives of 13.9 million Gyeonggi residents can improve."


Furthermore, Kim stated, "From National Assembly member Kim Eun-hye to 'Gyeonggi Province governor candidate Kim Eun-hye,' I will return to my original intention and visit each and every Gyeonggi resident from the humblest place."


Meanwhile, the by-election for the vacant National Assembly seat in Bundang-gap, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, caused by Kim's resignation, will be held together with the June 1 local elections.
