Sonopet Club & Resort, Guide Dog Family Invitation Event to Commemorate 'World Guide Dog Day'.

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Daemyung Sono Group's Sono Pet Club & Resort announced on the 28th that it held an invitation event supporting various experiences for visually impaired families living with guide dogs in celebration of "World Guide Dog Day."

World Guide Dog Day was established in 1989 and designated in 1992 by the International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF), headquartered in Reading, UK, to raise awareness and improve the environment for guide dogs. It is observed annually on the last Wednesday of April.

Sono Pet, which operates a pet-friendly cultural complex at Vivaldi Park in Hongcheon and Sono Calm Goyang, empathizes with the purpose of World Guide Dog Day and held a 1-night, 2-day event at Vivaldi Park starting on the 27th to foster public consensus on guide dog activities. Ten families with visually impaired guide dogs were invited to the event, held in collaboration with the Daemyung Welfare Foundation.

The event included use of rooms where guests could stay with their guide dogs, visits to the companion caf? & restaurant Thinking Dog, health checkups and medical consultations by veterinarians from the Sono Veterinary Foundation. The invited families also took family photos with their guide dogs at Another Sim Pet, a professional pet studio. Sono Pet supported the guide dogs and their families to enjoy special menus at food and beverage facilities such as Thinking Dog and Shenu, as well as various activities at Vivaldi Park including bonfire gatherings, outdoor performances, and sky swings. Farewell gifts included bedding from Sono Industry, nutritional supplements for the visually impaired from Yuhan Yanghang, guide dog snacks, and Jeju fresh milk pet milk from Jutopia.

A Sono Pet official said, "We are honored that guide dogs and their families, who are doing meaningful work to commemorate World Guide Dog Day, could spend special time at facilities prepared for pets." They added, "Going forward, Sono Pet will continue to contribute to creating a society where people and animals live well together and will persistently carry out public interest activities to enhance welfare related to companion animals, including guide dogs."
