Point Mobile Accelerates Entry into Japanese Market with Casio Partnership Kang Sam-kwon, CEO of Point Mobile.

[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] Point Mobile, an industrial mobile device manufacturer, announced on the 28th that it will begin full-scale supply this month of a strategic product jointly developed with Japanese electronics company Casio.

The handheld terminal supplied to Casio this time is an enterprise mobile computer for logistics, transportation, and warehouse management based on the latest Android operating system (OS). It is also expected to obtain certification for SoftBank Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, one of the two major mobile carriers in Japan.

Kang Sam-gwon, CEO of Point Mobile, said, "Except for Samsung, no domestic company has received SoftBank network certification," adding, "We are the first domestic handheld terminal manufacturer to do so, and the network certification will be completed within next month."

This product is supplied through a new product development contract signed between Point Mobile and Casio at the end of August last year. The quantity supplied to Casio this year alone, including new products, exceeds 40,000 units, amounting to a total of about 25 billion KRW.

CEO Kang stated, "The number of models supplied to Casio has increased to five," and added, "We plan to continuously increase the market share of industrial handheld terminals in Japan by strengthening our cooperative relationship with Casio."

Point Mobile has been supplying Casio with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) products. Currently, Point Mobile supplies 90% of Casio's industrial handheld terminals.
