[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] Outdoor electronic billboards supporting President Moon Jae-in and First Lady Kim Jung-sook will be displayed in major bustling areas of Seoul starting from the 28th.
On the 27th, promotional materials related to the advertisement were posted on the online cafe 'Yeoseong Sidae' (Women's Era). This was prepared by supporters of President Moon among the cafe members, and the advertisements are scheduled to be displayed near Gangnam Station and Gyeongbokgung Station on Line 3 in Seoul.
The billboards will feature photos of President Moon and First Lady Kim together. The phrases include "Five springs, thank you," "I was happy to be with you. Now we wish for your happiness," "We hope your future will be like a warm spring day with blooming spring flowers," "I was happy to be with you both," and "From your destiny," among others.
They also requested advertisements inside the Seoul subway but have not yet received approval. A member of Yeoseong Sidae who organized the advertisement stated, "We applied for subway ads as well, but even after a week, approval has not been granted," adding, "Even if it is displayed for just one day, it will be meaningful. We are grateful to those who participated in the fundraising."
Supporters of President Moon have actively utilized outdoor electronic billboard advertisements before. In January 2018, on President Moon's first birthday after inauguration, a 2-minute 30-second advertisement was displayed on the Times Square billboard in New York, USA. The following year, an advertisement with the phrase "Never once turned away from the future we create together" was displayed on an outdoor billboard at Seoul Station. Last year, a birthday congratulatory advertisement was placed in a Gwangju subway station but was removed after five days due to concerns that it could compromise political neutrality ahead of elections.
