Chanel awarded each recipient, representing 11 countries and various art forms ranging from theater, film, dance, gaming, to visual and performing arts, a prize of 100,000 euros (approximately 133 million KRW).
Furthermore, as part of the Next Prize program, Chanel provided the recipients in Venice with opportunities to experiment with ideas, strengthen artistic networks, and find inspiration for future projects.
Meanwhile, jury members such as actress Tilda Swinton and architect Sir David Adjaye, along with creative leaders and partners of the CHANEL Culture Fund?including the National Portrait Gallery, Centre Pompidou, and Underground Museum?were also present in Venice. Many of these partners participated in selecting the CHANEL Next Prize recipients.
Activities held in Venice included the Biennale preview, dialogues among artists, and a celebratory dinner honoring the recipients and jury members alongside CHANEL Culture Fund partners and other key figures in the cultural sector.
The CHANEL Next Prize stands as a testament to Chanel’s commitment to contemporary culture. Expanding on a century of engagement in the arts, Chanel fosters artistic innovation and provides an environment where artists can take on challenges, reflecting founder Gabrielle Chanel’s wish to “be part of the future that unfolds.”
