Jangseong-gun Promotes 'Living in the Countryside Project'

[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, is promoting the ‘Living in the Countryside’ project, which allows urban residents interested in returning to farming or rural living to experience life in a rural experience village.

According to the county on the 27th, the ‘Living in the Countryside’ project provides housing and training programs for three months to those preparing to return to farming or rural living, aiming to encourage successful settlement in rural areas.

This year, the county plans to carry out the project for a total of 9 households and 13 participants divided into the first and second half of the year. For the first half recruitment, 20 households applied, far exceeding the quota of 7 households, demonstrating the high interest of urban residents in returning to farming or rural living.

The project operation is entrusted to Namchang Village Association (representative Jeong Sukrak) of Byeollae-ri Village, Bukha-myeon, a representative rural experience and recreation village of the county.

The village association plans to operate various programs, including agricultural education and farming practice for participants to experience rural life, as well as opportunities for interaction with local residents, and exploration of cultural and tourist sites.

The county plans to complete the first half schedule by mid-June and recruit participants for the second half in July.

A county official said, “We expect this to be a good opportunity for those wishing to return to farming or rural living to experience rural life in advance, reduce trial and error, and achieve stable relocation.”
