[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Ericsson LG announced on the 26th that it has signed a partnership agreement with Newgens and GNTEL, companies specializing in mobile network construction, to officially launch the '5G Specialized Network (Eum 5G)' business.
The 5G specialized network is a service that builds dedicated networks tailored to the characteristics of enterprises such as manufacturing, logistics, and healthcare, using dedicated frequencies (4.72GHz and 28.9GHz) for specialized networks by companies and backbone network operators that require the introduction of 5G convergence services, separate from the mobile networks provided by telecom operators. The government declared the activation of 5G specialized networks as one of the main 5G strategies in 2022.
Through this agreement, Ericsson LG will actively enter the business using Ericsson Private 5G (EP5G), a 5G specialized network solution. The accumulated experience of the two partner companies in mobile network construction is expected to support the introduction of specialized networks, including design, construction, operation, and consulting of 5G specialized networks.
Lim Young-pil, CEO of Newgens, said, "Based on a long-standing successful relationship with Ericsson, we are confident that close cooperation in the newly launched Eum 5G field will be a good opportunity to take another leap forward."
Lee Maeng-hee, CEO of GNTEL, said, "We expect this partnership agreement to be an opportunity for the full-scale supply of 5G convergence services and the pioneering of new markets."
Shim Kyo-heon, Executive Director of Ericsson LG EB Division, said, "EP5G is a dedicated 5G specialized network solution developed based on Ericsson's proven 5G technology, providing optimized solutions for changing market environments and corporate demands," adding, "It will contribute to accelerating the digital transformation of enterprises."
