"Will Become a Breakwater Protecting Gyeonggi Residents' Lives from Yoon's Reckless Actions"

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Kim Dong-yeon, the Democratic Party candidate for Governor of Gyeonggi Province, emphasized that he would "create a Gyeonggi Province without housing worries" by presenting real estate pledges including the reconstruction and remodeling of first-generation new towns and 50% half-price housing.

On the 26th, Kim held a press conference at the National Assembly Communication Office and said, "I will become a strong breakwater protecting the lives and future of Gyeonggi residents from the reckless actions of the Yoon Seok-yeol government," putting real estate pledges at the forefront.

Kim announced the '1·3·5 Real Estate Strategy,' stating, "The housing in first-generation new towns such as Bundang, Sanbon, Ilsan, Jungdong, and Pyeongchon is severely aging. Through public-led reconstruction and remodeling, as well as the enactment of special laws, we will ensure residents can live comfortably."

He also said, "The third-generation new towns will be developed as self-sufficient cities linking jobs, housing, education, and medical care to improve quality of life." Regarding measures for young people and newlyweds to own homes, he explained, "We will supply Gyeonggi-type job-linked support housing to create a 'youth city with proximity to work'."

Along with this, he mentioned plans to supply 'half-price housing.' Kim said, "We will provide quality basic housing at 50% of market prices and offer customized housing to meet diverse demands, creating residential spaces where anyone can live well," adding, "We will revitalize urban vitality through redevelopment of deteriorated old downtown areas."

Kim also announced policies for a '30-minute commute transportation revolution' and 'livelihood economic recovery.'

He promised, "We will open a 30-minute commute era with GTX, which is three times faster than the subway," and added, "We will attract metropolitan railways and metropolitan buses needed in our neighborhoods and diversify transfer transportation methods." He also expressed, "Upon taking office as governor, I will establish the 'Livelihood Economy Task Force' as my first order and carefully oversee livelihood issues."

Furthermore, he emphasized, "For self-employed people affected by COVID-19, we will promote 'debt reduction' and 'credit amnesty' to alleviate debt burdens through rehabilitation-type debt adjustment and interest relief from financial institutions," and "We will implement the Korean-style PPP system, the 'Wage and Rent Guarantee Program,' for small business owners and expand market and commercial district support agencies by region and city/county." He also plans to open the 'Gyeonggi Local Currency 2.0 Era,' significantly expanding the issuance of Gyeonggi local currency, strengthening linkage with public platforms such as Baedal Teukgeup, and establishing it as a daily currency to revitalize local commercial districts.

Kim said, "This Gyeonggi gubernatorial election is not simply an election to choose one governor," targeting People Power Party candidate Kim Eun-hye by labeling her as "a representative of unfair golden spoon vested interests, a parachute force with preferential treatment for former officials, and a spokesperson for Yoon Seok-yeol."

Kim emphasized, "The criteria for choice are clear," adding, "With empathy for ordinary people and Gyeonggi residents learned through life and with experience and capabilities accumulated over 34 years of public service, I will enrich and enhance the lives of the residents."
