[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Junho] On the 26th, urban air mobility-related stocks showed strong performance, hitting 52-week highs in the stock market.
As of 2 PM that day, Vessel was hitting the upper price limit, trading at 7,150 KRW, up 30% from the previous day. Gisan Telecom also rose 29.96% to 4,620 KRW. NeonTech (15.97%), FiberPro (11.30%), and Firstec (8.70%) also showed gains.
These stocks belong to the urban air mobility theme, and the sharp rise is analyzed to be due to the inclusion of urban air mobility (UAM) commercialization as a national agenda in the "Mobility Great Transformation Promotion Plan" announced by the Presidential Transition Committee the day before.
Vessel, based on its design capabilities that organically combine hardware and software operations, established an aviation division and introduced the KLA-100, Korea's first ultralight aircraft. In 2019, the aviation division was spun off into Vessel Aerospace, which is developing manned and unmanned aircraft and related technologies.
Gisan Telecom's subsidiary, Mophience, developed Korea's first and only aviation navigation safety system. Mophience's aviation navigation safety system was developed according to the standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), making it a system that can be universally used at airports worldwide. Domestically, it is installed and operated at more than 20 locations including Seoul (Seongnam) Airport, Gimpo International Airport, Gimhae (Busan) International Airport, and Jeju International Airport, which are used by the presidential aircraft and state guest aircraft. It is also installed in over 200 locations across 15 countries worldwide, including Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, India, Indonesia, Thailand, and Bhutan.
