Pulmuone Signs MOU with Insilicogen to Develop Next-Generation Food Safety Diagnostic Technology On the 25th, the 'Pulmuone Technology Institute-InSilicoGen Business Agreement Ceremony' was held at Pulmuone Technology Institute located in Osong Biopolis, Chungbuk.

[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Pulmuone Technology Institute announced on the 26th that it has signed a business agreement with InsilicoGen, a bioinformatics specialized company, to promote research cooperation for the development of next-generation food safety diagnostic technology based on CRISPR-Cas.


CRISPR-Cas is a technology that won the 2020 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, which recognizes specific nucleotide sequences in the genome and cuts the DNA at the corresponding site. Recently, it has been utilized for rapid COVID-19 diagnosis and is regarded as a core bio-technology of the Fourth Industrial Revolution era. Pulmuone Technology Institute is conducting research to develop an accurate and rapid food safety convergence diagnostic system by using CRISPR-Cas technology to diagnose and detect major food hazard bacteria and viruses. It has also recently filed two patents.


Through this agreement, both companies will jointly promote ▲development of food safety diagnostic technology based on CRISPR-Cas ▲construction of a database on hazard factors related to food ▲establishment of a next-generation food safety diagnostic platform.


Pulmuone plans to apply this technology at all stages from production to distribution of its products through this technological cooperation. It is expected that food hazard factors can be quickly diagnosed and responded to not only in food manufacturing and storage stages but also at consumer contact points such as daycare centers and meal service sites.


Lee Sang-yoon, head of Pulmuone Technology Institute, said, “Through this business cooperation with InsilicoGen, we expect to accelerate technological innovation in the food safety field, which can be considered the core of the food industry,” and added, “We will continue to strive to provide consumers with safer and healthier food based on Pulmuone’s innovative technology leading the industry.”
