On the 26th at 10 AM, at GNU Convention Center Student Lounge
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Office of University Education Innovation at Gyeongsang National University will hold an opening ceremony for the ‘USG Shared University Digital Trans Lab’ at 10 a.m. on the 26th in the student lounge on the first floor of the GNU Convention Center at the Gajwa Campus.
The opening ceremony was organized to celebrate the establishment of a practice room designed to implement reality into virtual (digital transform) and virtual into reality (analog transform) in response to the educational paradigm shift such as virtual reality and metaverse.
About 25 people, including President Kwon Soon-ki, headquarters officials, and faculty members, will attend. The event will proceed in the order of progress report, commemorative speech, ribbon-cutting ceremony, and virtual reality experience at the Digital Trans Lab.
The practice room is equipped with facilities for augmented reality/virtual reality (AR/VR) content production, Arduino-based practice, mobile application system development, and data utilization. It also includes a data collection and content viewing room using information and communication technology (ICT) equipment, a single-person video shooting and production room, and an exhibition space for digital video outputs.
Regarding the opening of the Digital Trans Lab, President Kwon Soon-ki said, “We must collect data, process it into informatization, and then intelligentize it, and ultimately, both faculty and students should be able to use it smartly.” He added, “We should take pride and honor as the lead university of the USG Shared University, the first regionally established shared university in Korea, and do our best.”
The USG Shared University (University System of Gyeongnam, Ulsan) is a new higher education academic system jointly operated by six general universities in Ulsan and Gyeongnam (Gyeongsang National University, Changwon National University, Gyeongnam National University, University of Ulsan, Inje University, and Youngsan University).
All universities participating in the USG Shared University have newly established eight USG convergence majors and recruited students. Students receive the same curriculum, courses, practical training, and extracurricular activity opportunities in the form of double majors.
This differentiated shared academic system allows students from multiple universities to take courses that teach the latest technologies and job competencies required by companies together, receive academic credits for them, and graduate with a USG convergence bachelor's degree alongside their main major.
