Daejeon City Provides Free Mini Solar Panels to Security Offices in Apartment Complexes and Industrial Sites

[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City will provide mini solar panels free of charge to security offices in apartment complexes and industrial sites within the city.

The city announced on the 25th that it will promote the "Mini Solar Panel Distribution Support Project" with this purpose.

The project was proposed and selected last year as a resident participation budget project by the Daejeon Chungnam Green Alliance and is now being implemented. The core goal is to enable cooling in security offices during the summer heatwave without worrying about electricity bills.

The installation targets are security offices in apartment complexes and industrial sites, and mini solar panels can be installed in locations such as balconies (mounted type), rooftops (flat or sloped type), and exterior walls (vertical type).

Through this project, apartment complexes and industrial sites can install up to two 350W modules per security office.

The installed products are domestically produced with an efficiency of at least 19.8%. When two modules are installed, it can power a 6-pyeong wall-mounted air conditioner and an electric stove for about 4 hours a day.

The installation cost is 652,000 KRW, fully supported by city funds. Security offices wishing to install the panels can refer to the announcement posted on the city hall website and consult with participating companies such as GNB Solar Co., Ltd., SK Solar Energy Co., Ltd., Daeyang ENC Co., Ltd., and Geonyang Power Co., Ltd., before signing a contract.

Participating companies that have signed contracts can submit an application form to the City Hall's Infrastructure Industry Division or the Daejeon Chungnam Green Alliance to receive installation cost support on a first-come, first-served basis.

The distribution volume is 500 units of 350W modules, and the project may end early if the budget is exhausted.

Song Byeong-cheol, head of the city's Infrastructure Industry Division, said, "The Mini Solar Panel Distribution Support Project is being promoted this year as a resident participation budget project," adding, "We expect this project to improve the working environment for security personnel in apartment complexes and industrial sites and to expand the distribution of renewable energy."
