Social Contribution Project Promoting Support for Rehabilitation Treatment for People with Disabilities
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 25th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the disability physical function improvement project "Attaching the Engine of Dreams" with SSCL (Stuttgart Sportscar), the official Porsche dealer in Korea, and the Seoul Metropolitan Association of Welfare Facilities for the Disabled.
Through this agreement, SSCL will provide a sponsorship fund of 150 million KRW to the Seoul Metropolitan Association of Welfare Facilities for the Disabled, and Seoul will collaborate with the association to promote rehabilitation treatment projects for people with disabilities.
Continuing for seven years since 2016, SSCL has sponsored a total of 915 million KRW up to last year, and Seoul and the Seoul Metropolitan Association of Welfare Facilities for the Disabled have conducted rehabilitation treatment programs and rehabilitation space improvement programs for 229 disability welfare facilities.
In particular, the customized rehabilitation treatment programs considering the types of disabilities have received high praise from participants due to systematic and effective support. Additionally, through the rehabilitation space improvement program carried out since 2018, remodeling of rehabilitation rooms and idle spaces was supported in 19 disability welfare facilities in Seoul, enabling users to receive treatment in a more comfortable environment.
In May, Seoul and the Seoul Metropolitan Association of Welfare Facilities for the Disabled plan to publicly recruit institutions to participate in the program targeting disability welfare facilities in Seoul, and detailed information on the application method can be confirmed through the Seoul Metropolitan Association of Welfare Facilities for the Disabled.
Kim Geon-tak, Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Disability Independence Support Division, said, "We thank SSCL for their continuous support for disability rehabilitation treatment and welfare facility environment improvement even during the difficult times of COVID-19," and added, "Seoul will put more effort into ensuring that people with disabilities can enjoy a comfortable daily life through proper rehabilitation treatment."
