[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-ho Kim] On the 23rd, the Democratic Party of Korea criticized First Lady Kim Geon-hee, targeting her with the term "residence shopping game" in response to news that President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol is considering the Foreign Minister's residence in Hannam-dong as his new official residence. The party escalated its offensive by referring to some media reports that Kim recently toured the Foreign Ministry's ministerial residence.
Former lawmaker Jin-ae Kim pointed out, "Kim Geon-hee's residence shopping game, President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol's Kim Geon-hee wish-fulfillment game," adding, "Where is national defense scattering to, where is the diplomatic residence going, and where is the state administration heading? It's pathetic."
Former party leader Young-gil Song also criticized on Facebook, saying, "They could have just renovated the intact Blue House, but instead they are kicking out the Ministry of National Defense and now even taking away the Foreign Minister's residence as the presidential residence. How are diplomatic events with foreign heads of state and foreign envoys supposed to be held?" He called it "a troublesome matter."
Meanwhile, the Democratic Party also targeted Health and Welfare Minister nominee Ho-young Jeong, criticizing President-elect Yoon's appointments. Spokesperson Hyun-young Shin urged during a National Assembly briefing, "We hope that the nominee becomes a truly 'blameless' minister, not a 'shameless minister nominee,' by submitting sincere documents," calling for the submission of personnel hearing materials.
