[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The Small Enterprise and Market Service (SEMAS) announced on the 22nd that it held a meeting with small business owners in the Gyeonggi region at the Suwon Joint Wholesale Logistics Center and the Suwon Sindong branch of the New Business Startup Academy.
At the morning event held at the Suwon Joint Wholesale Logistics Center, SEMAS Chairman Bonghwan Jo held a meeting with Song Yukyung, President of the Korea Supermarket Association, and chairpersons of cooperative and group organizations of supermarkets in the Gyeonggi region to discuss measures to revitalize distribution logistics for small business owners.
During the meeting, they discussed plans to build next-generation logistics information systems and smart distribution information management systems to respond to changes in distribution structures and logistics environments centered on large distributors amid the expanding online distribution market, including dawn delivery and same-day delivery. In this regard, SEMAS announced that it has begun introducing and building a next-generation joint management system utilizing Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to help small and medium logistics organizations secure their own competitiveness. Through this, it plans to support the joint use of information covering all stages from production, manufacturing, distribution, sales, to consumption of products handled at the joint wholesale logistics center.
In the afternoon, a meeting with small business owners in Gyeonggi was held at the Suwon Sindong branch of the New Business Startup Academy. The meeting was attended by Chairman Jo, Sangbaek Lee, President of the Gyeonggi Small Business Federation, Kyungmin Lim, President of the Suwon Market District Small Business Federation, and other executives and officials from major small business-related cooperative and group organizations in the region.
This meeting was an opportunity to encourage small business owners in the Gyeonggi region who are struggling due to COVID-19 and to directly listen to their field difficulties and suggestions. Chairman Jo said, “As part of on-site communication, we organized this meeting to directly listen to voices,” adding, “We will strive to reflect the various opinions raised at the meeting in support projects in cooperation with small business-related organizations by industry.”
