[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The Blue House announced on the afternoon of the 21st that it held a Standing Committee meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) chaired by Suh Hoon, Director of the National Security Office.
The attendees closely reviewed the relevant situations to maintain a firm security posture during the ongoing tensions on the Korean Peninsula and international affairs, as well as the period of government transition.
They first examined North Korea's nuclear and missile activities, military movements in the West Sea NLL waters during the crab season, and reviewed the status of the South Korea-U.S. joint command post exercises and alert posture.
Regarding the Ukraine war, they reiterated the request for Korean nationals not to enter Ukraine, and decided to continue taking necessary measures such as closely cooperating with the international community, ensuring the safety of Korean nationals on site, and providing additional humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
Furthermore, in response to recent reports by some Iranian media calling for the blockade of Korean vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz, they agreed to closely monitor related developments and take necessary domestic and international measures.
