Seo Chunsu, People Power Party Preliminary Candidate, Officially Declares Re-election Bid for Hamyang County Governor

Press Conference for Candidacy at Election Camp on the 20th

Seo Chunsu, People Power Party Preliminary Candidate, Officially Declares Re-election Bid for Hamyang County Governor Seochunsoo, a preliminary candidate, is holding a press conference to announce his candidacy for the position of Hamyang County Governor.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Seo Chunsu, the mayor of Hamyang County, officially declared his bid for re-election.

On the 20th, Seo Chunsu, a preliminary candidate from the People Power Party, held a press conference at his election camp to announce his candidacy for the Hamyang County mayoral election, attended by about 200 supporters.

In his declaration of candidacy, Seo said, “Hamyang stands at a crossroads, shedding its shameful past to restore the honor of being the ‘Land of Scholars’ and advancing toward a hopeful future,” emphasizing, “As all abnormalities return to normal, Hamyang faces a critical choice.”

He continued, “We are clearing out deep-rooted evils and unfair practices to build a just Hamyang,” and highlighted his achievements during his term, including the successful hosting of the Expo despite the severe COVID-19 situation, completion of the Daebongsan Recreation Valley, selection for the Urban Regeneration New Deal Project for six consecutive times, attracting Coupang, and the creation of future-sustaining major projects such as the investment leading district and logistics hub city infrastructure.

Regarding his re-election bid, Seo bowed his head and said, “Four years ago, I pleaded with you all, ‘Please give me one last chance to work for our hometown.’ Whatever the reasons, I apologize sincerely for not keeping that promise and now challenging for re-election.”

He pointed out that throughout his four years in office, he worked to reform the deep-rooted evils and illegal practices inherited from his predecessor and devoted all administrative power to COVID-19 prevention, which prevented him from fully implementing the true ‘Seo Chunsu-style county administration.’

He argued that large projects to revitalize the local economy and secure sustainable growth engines are underway, and that only an administrative expert can build the solid administrative infrastructure to support Hamyang’s future.

He also presented key tasks and pledges for the next four years, explaining the reasons behind his decision to seek re-election.

He stated, “Elections are a contest of policies and personalities,” warning, “If those who hide in the darkness and throw stones take charge of the county administration again, Hamyang will inevitably return to being a shameful Land of Scholars.”

In response to some claims that he is ‘too old,’ he emphasized, “We have clearly seen that stepping into privilege and injustice, rather than justice and fairness, is dangerous regardless of age.”

He appealed sincerely to the residents, saying, “I do not want to be dragged into a muddy election battle because of some people. At this historic crossroads, please judge who can make our hometown the most livable, fair, and just small but strong city.”
