[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] AfreecaTV announced on the 20th that it has implemented a multi-verse service on its metaverse platform 'Freeblox,' allowing users to create various personalized metaverse spaces, and introduced new features such as user maps and live streaming. Freeblox is AfreecaTV's metaverse platform where participants can freely communicate in real-time through 'avatars' and engage in various economic activities together, including live streaming, chatting, messaging, and gaming.
Freeblox is a virtual platform that expands AfreecaTV's strengths of 'real-time' live broadcasting and the service philosophy where 'users and BJs (one-person media hosts) create content and become the owners of the ecosystem' into a more advanced metaverse environment.
Freeblox consists of four 'buses': the virtual reality playground 'Play Bus,' 'My Bus' where individuals and companies can decorate spaces according to their purposes, 'Live Bus' where users can invite BJs and other users to their created metaverse spaces to enjoy various activities together, and 'Free Bus,' a metaverse space pre-decorated by AfreecaTV with various themes. In Freeblox, users can customize their avatars to express their individuality, and it is also possible to use BJ avatars purchased from AfreecaTV's non-fungible token (NFT) content marketplace 'AFT Market' as Freeblox avatars.
The newly implemented 'Multi Bus' service allows users to create multiple 'My Bus' spaces of their own. Along with the implementation of the 'Multi Bus' service, a feature was added to create personalized 'User Maps' games through map editing in My Bus and publish them to the virtual reality playground 'Play Bus.' For example, in an 'Obstacle Race' game, users can design the structures that players must overcome to create games of varying difficulty levels, and in a 'Gun Shooting' game, users can design maps that include cover and concealment elements to enable diverse game strategies.
User-published 'User Map' games in Play Bus can be enjoyed together with other users. Players who participate in these games can leave ratings, reviews, and likes on the User Map games, which is expected to lead to the creation of newer and more diverse forms of 'Multi Buses' within the Freeblox platform.
Additionally, a convenience feature was added to easily use AfreecaTV's live streaming service within Freeblox. Users of Freeblox can share all their activities taking place in various 'buses' with other users by clicking the 'Broadcast' button located at the bottom left of the screen to start live streaming. The live streaming is broadcast through the AfreecaTV platform, which is expected to allow more users to participate in creatively made 'games' or 'video content.'
An AfreecaTV official stated, "We plan to further advance the metaverse platform where 'participating users are the owners of the ecosystem,' enabling them to engage in various economic activities and generate income based on their efforts."
