[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the 19th at 2 p.m., Noh Hyun-song, Mayor of Gangseo-gu, attended the ‘42nd Disability Day Commemoration Ceremony’ held at Yewon Church in Deungchon-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul.

The ceremony, hosted by the Gangseo-gu Federation of Disabled Persons’ Organizations (President Kim Yong-je), proceeded with the reading of the Disability Human Rights Charter, commendation of meritorious persons, viewing of a disability awareness improvement video, and congratulatory performances. It was broadcast live through the Gangseo-gu Federation of Disabled Persons’ Organizations’ YouTube channel.

Mayor Noh Hyun-song said, “I hope many residents will show interest and participate in the various events prepared to commemorate the 42nd Disability Day,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to create a Gangseo-gu where people with and without disabilities live together harmoniously.”

Additionally, during the Disability Day Commemoration Week from the 19th to the 23rd, various online and offline programs will be held, including ▲ Disability Policy Discussion ▲ Disability Awareness Improvement Street Campaign ▲ 1:1 Walking Competition between Disabled and Non-disabled Persons ▲ Oh! Dancing Day, among others.

On the morning of the 19th, Chae Hyun-il, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, assisted workers in assembling parts at the multiple-hand assembly project site of the Yeongdeungpo Regional Self-Support Center.

The Yeongdeungpo Regional Self-Support Center, which is entrusted with operating Yeongdeungpo-gu’s self-support labor projects, conducts various programs aimed at the economic independence of vulnerable residents, including vocational training, job placement, and startup support.

On that day, Mayor Chae visited the self-support center project teams located in Yeongdeungpo Bon-dong and Singil 1-dong, toured the workplace facilities, and checked the working environment and operational status.

Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) held the ‘New Public Officials Public-Private Cooperation Agenda Discovery Discussion’ at 1:30 p.m. on the 19th at Haenuri Town Art Hall.

This discussion, aimed at discovering agendas that the public and private sectors can plan and execute to solve community problems from the fresh perspectives of 122 newly appointed public officials, will be held five times in total until the 26th.

At the first session held that day, 22 newly appointed public officials from the Administrative Support Bureau and Mok 1~5-dong and Sinwol 1~6-dong participated in group discussions on education and culture fields with professional facilitator Jeong Il-seon, and prepared agenda proposals.

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) announced that on the 16th, the ‘Jungnang Love Home Repair Volunteer Group’ visited a household in a welfare blind spot in Muk-dong and carried out home repair and residential environment improvement volunteer activities.

On that day, the volunteer group visited the household, conducted cleaning and disinfection work in the morning, and performed wallpapering and floor mat replacement in the afternoon. After the home repairs were completed, the household expressed, “The room that was filled with garbage and mold has become so clean that it feels like receiving a new house as a gift.”

Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi, who participated in the volunteer work, said, “We will continue to strive to establish various linkage projects so that the hands of local volunteer groups can reach vulnerable groups in need.”

The ‘Jungnang Love Home Repair Volunteer Group’ has been active since 2019, helping improve residential environments such as wallpapering and floor mat replacement by utilizing the individual talents of volunteers for low-income, disabled, and single-parent families in the area.
