Training Future Experts for Damyang Premium Strawberries, Launch of Strawberry Hydroponic Cultivation Course, Various Education Programs for High-Quality Strawberry Production

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the 19th, Jeonnam Damyang-gun announced that it held the opening ceremony of the ‘15th Damyang-gun Farmers' College’ on the 18th at the Dambit Agricultural Hall to cultivate professional farmers who can respond to changes in the agricultural environment.

The opening ceremony included the direction of the Farmers' College operation and orientation, and a lecture by County Governor Choi Hyung-sik on the theme of ‘Strengthening the self-reliance capacity of Damyang agriculture in the post-COVID era,’ covering the response direction and future prospects of our agriculture in a changing society, and strengthening farmers' capabilities in preparation for the post-COVID era.

This Farmers' College consists of a strawberry hydroponic cultivation course lasting over 100 hours until November, providing education on facility environment cultivation technology for producing high-quality strawberries in response to the spread of digital agriculture and changes in consumer preferences.

Governor Choi Hyung-sik said, “We will do our best to prepare so that this education can wisely cope with the changing times and be systematically combined in the field,” and added, “I hope all enrolled students will faithfully participate in this course and become agricultural professional managers who will lead the future of Damyang agriculture.”

Meanwhile, since the first course on Jukrocha started in 2008, the Farmers' College has produced 887 graduates over 14 sessions so far, significantly contributing to the development of local agriculture and increasing farmers' income through active activities such as item-specific research groups.
