Four Categories Including Competition Mark, Mascot, Poster, and Slogan, Until May 17
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, is holding a contest for the symbol of the ‘2023 Asian Weightlifting Championships’ from April 18 to May 17.
The ‘2023 Asian Weightlifting Championships,’ scheduled to be held in October next year, is attracting attention as the first international sports event ever hosted by Jinju City.
The contest symbol should be themed around the Asian Weightlifting Championships, which will bring together about 2,000 Asian weightlifters from 47 countries. It should symbolically express the pride of Jinju citizens hosting an official international sports event for the first time in history.
Through this contest, the city plans to select works that creatively apply Jinju’s city brand ‘Charm Jinju’ and the tourism character ‘Hamo’ to the event’s image to promote the international competition.
The contest is divided into four categories: emblem, mascot, poster, and slogan. One winning work and one runner-up will be selected in each category, totaling eight works. Anyone can participate without qualification restrictions, and submissions are accepted by the Jinju City Sports Promotion Division.
A city official said, “As this is the first international sports event held in Jinju, we will select a symbol that well represents the image of ‘Prosperous Jinju, Happy Citizens’ to successfully host the competition,” urging interest and participation.
To ensure the successful hosting of the ‘2023 Asian Weightlifting Championships,’ Jinju City formed the ‘2023 Asian Weightlifting Championships Organizing Committee’ in January and held its inauguration ceremony in March.
