Short-form News Platforms, News Big Data Web Playground, and 16 News Utilization Ideas Discovered
The Korea Press Foundation (Chairman Pyo Wansu) announced on the 18th the 16 companies selected for the 2022 Media Startup Support Project, which supports innovative services and technology development utilizing news content.
A total of 76 startups submitted applications during the public recruitment held from March 7 to 31, marking the highest competition rate ever.
Among them, 16 ideas received excellent evaluations through two rounds of screening, including Sliver, a paragraph-centered short-form news platform (Sliver); CGInside, a GRM (Government Risk Management) data service using news; Heistars, a K-news recommendation service for Korean language beginners and children from multicultural families; TTV (Text To Video) service by Wayne Hill Ventures, which shows articles of interest as AI videos; and Big Kids, a web playground utilizing news big data for children (Timing For All).
The selected companies will receive various programs to support startup growth, including development grants up to 30 million KRW, access to BigKinds API, the nation's top news big data service, and one-on-one customized mentoring.
