Women's National Sitting Volleyball Team Holds Training Camp in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Korean Para Volleyball Association's sitting volleyball national team players are dedicating themselves to daily training at the Suwan Culture and Sports Center Multipurpose Gymnasium, managed by the Gwangsan-gu Facilities Management Corporation in Gwangju Metropolitan City, aiming to win medals in the sitting volleyball category at the 4th Asian Para Games held in Hangzhou.

The national team, consisting of 14 members including head coach Kim Jeong-ah, coach Jeong Seong-hoon, and players, selected Namdo Gwangju as their training camp location ahead of the October competition in China and began training in Gwangsan-gu.

This training camp was made possible through the active efforts of Chairman Jeon Gap-su, and since the 13th, the national team will continue training for 15 days focusing on teamwork improvement through serves, spikes, receives, and practice matches to maintain their performance.

A representative from the corporation said, "It is meaningful to provide a training venue in our region for the women's sitting volleyball national team, and we hope they achieve good results at the Hangzhou Asian Para Games based on the outcomes of their training."

The 4th Hangzhou Asian Para Games will be held over seven days from October 9 to October 15, featuring 44 participating countries, 22 sports, and 616 events.

Sitting volleyball, one of the disabled volleyball events, is played with a net height of 1.15m for men and 1.05m for women. A fault is called if a player's buttocks leave the ground, and the game proceeds with unique rules such as allowing blocks on serves.

The women's sitting volleyball national team previously placed 4th at the 2014 Incheon Asian Para Games.

Meanwhile, the corporation plans to provide training venues for the men's sitting volleyball national team joint training sessions in June as well.
