Sancheong Museum Selected for Multiple MOCA and Gyeongnam Province Projects... Accelerating Development and Practical Application of Sancheong Studies Including 'Smart Museum' Sancheong Museum.


[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Sancheong Museum in Gyeongnam has been selected for four public projects by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Gyeongnam Province, and will begin projects to strengthen the identity and uniqueness of the Sancheong region.


Sancheong-gun has been selected for four projects hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Gyeongnam Province, including the ‘Public Museum and Art Gallery Smart Museum and Art Gallery Construction Support Project,’ ‘Museum and Art Gallery Week - The Power of Museums,’ ‘Lifelong Learning Platform Construction Project,’ and ‘KB Dream Wave 2030 - Museum Strolling Project,’ and will sequentially commence these projects.


The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Smart Museum Infrastructure Project aims to create an immersive public museum and art gallery viewing environment by utilizing the latest information and communication technologies (ICT) such as artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution for exhibition, viewing, education, and guidance.

Through this project, the Sancheong Museum will provide digital content by integrating not only the museum’s own collection materials but also artifacts excavated in Sancheong scattered across other museums. It is expected to serve as a digital platform for Sancheong’s history, culture, and tourism.


The ‘Media Archive Wall’ and ‘Smart Exhibition Guide’ connected to the archive server allow visitors to freely edit content they like to create ‘My Own Sancheong Cultural Heritage Archive’ and share it on personal SNS.


In addition, the museum was finally selected for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the National Museum Cultural Foundation’s ‘2022 Museum and Art Gallery Week - The Power of Museums, Positive Influence’ themed program contest, and various experiential events are being prepared.


The experiential programs will be operated face-to-face and non-face-to-face at the Sancheong Museum from May 13 to 22, during Museum and Art Gallery Week, only for applicants.


The Sancheong Museum has been selected for three consecutive years in the network linked with the ‘Lifelong Learning Platform Construction Project’ hosted by Gyeongnam Province and organized by the Gyeongsangnam-do Lifelong Education Promotion Institute.


Also, the ‘KB Dream Wave 2030 Museum Strolling Project’ has been selected for two consecutive years, receiving support for the development and operation of specialized creative experiential activity programs.


Park Woo-myung, director of the Sancheong Museum, said, “This will be an opportunity to further strengthen Sancheong’s identity and uniqueness by digitally consolidating not only academic, cultural, and tourism cultural heritage but also vast information about Sancheong.” He added, “We will continue to strive for the development and practical use of regional studies based on Sancheong’s cultural heritage so that it can lead to historical cultural tourism and regional economic revitalization.”
