[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance announced on the 18th that it has expanded coverage for its direct driver insurance and added new services through its April product revision.
Driver insurance is a product that compensates for criminal and administrative liabilities arising from death or one of the 12 major negligent driving accidents caused by a car. Typical coverage includes driver fines, traffic accident handling support funds, and attorney fees.
Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Direct's 'Chak' Driver Insurance expanded the coverage limit for the 'Traffic Accident Handling Support Fund' through this revision.
This special contract guarantees criminal settlement money according to the degree of injury to the victim when the insured becomes the perpetrator of a traffic accident. The limit has increased to up to 200 million KRW for death and serious injury, and up to 150 million KRW for injuries requiring more than 25 weeks of treatment.
A new special contract called 'Legal Cost Damage for Civil Lawsuits Related to Car Accidents' has also been added. If a civil lawsuit is filed in court due to a car accident and ends with a judgment, lawsuit mediation, or lawsuit settlement, attorney fees, court fees, and delivery charges are covered. Regardless of whether the insured is the perpetrator or the victim, actual expenses incurred within the coverage limit can be reimbursed.
New additional services have also been introduced. The main features are 'Good Drive' and 'Good Walk.' By practicing safe driving and walking through the Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Direct app, customers receive benefits in the form of Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance AnyPoint rewards.
'Good Drive' is a service that provides points based on the driving distance and safe driving score of the customer's vehicle. The safe driving score is calculated using an algorithm developed by Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance that considers sudden acceleration, sudden braking, and other factors. Points are awarded for driving more than 1 km, with a maximum of 100 points per drive and up to 5,000 points per month.
Customers only need to connect the Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Direct app to their vehicle via Bluetooth once. Multiple vehicles can be registered. The service is available to customers who are simultaneously enrolled in direct personal automobile insurance and the revised direct driver insurance as of April.
'Good Walk' is a service that provides points based on the number of steps taken. When 6,000 steps are achieved in a day, 30 points are credited, and an additional 100 points are awarded for every 100,000 steps per month. Up to 1,500 points can be accumulated monthly. This service is provided to customers enrolled in the revised direct driver insurance as of April.
Points accumulated through 'Good Drive' and 'Good Walk' can be used to purchase goods and services at the Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance AnyPoint Mall. In particular, points can be used not only for driver insurance but also for personal automobile insurance, health insurance, travel insurance, and other insurance premium payments, providing a premium-saving effect. One point is equivalent to one KRW, and the validity period is three years.
A Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance official stated, "We plan to expand the target customers for the Good Drive and Good Walk services in the future," adding, "Since the launch of the 'Chak' brand in October last year, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Direct has been rapidly transforming into a lifestyle-oriented platform, and we will continue to introduce 'Chak' products and services."
