[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] On the 17th, the team of President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol criticized the Democratic Party of Korea's boycott movement of the confirmation hearing for Han Dong-hoon, the nominee for Minister of Justice, calling it "an unreasonable act that is hard to accept logically."
On the same day, Bae Hyun-jin, spokesperson for the President-elect, stated at a regular briefing held at the transition committee in Tongui-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, "It is the responsibility of the people for the Democratic Party and the People Power Party to conduct the confirmation hearing properly in the National Assembly," but added, "It is not the task of the President-elect or the transition committee, but something that should be done by the National Assembly."
Ahead of the confirmation hearing, the Democratic Party has identified Han Dong-hoon, the nominee for Minister of Justice, as the top candidate for rejection. They criticized President-elect Yoon's nomination of Han as "a preemptive strike against the public and a declaration of war against the National Assembly." The Democratic Party is expected to launch a full-scale offensive through the confirmation hearing by highlighting Han's involvement in the Channel A case and allegations related to the prosecution's election interference, emphasizing the 'judicial risks.' They are also expected to scrutinize recent suspicions, including the excessive increase in the Jeonse deposit for an apartment in Seocho-gu.
