[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] The Miracle Library in Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk, has been selected for the ‘2022 Specialized Library Development Project’ hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korean Library Association.
According to the city on the 15th, the ‘Specialized Library Development Project’ is a program aimed at maximizing user satisfaction by specializing in specific fields and providing differentiated services in response to users’ cultural demands amid changes in the library environment.
With this selection, the Miracle Library plans to invest 10 million KRW in the project to operate specialized and differentiated programs such as lectures and experiences under the theme of ‘Healing through Art.’
In particular, the library will create a distinctive reading room space through separate interior design and provide citizens with healing and therapeutic time through diverse artistic activities such as visual arts and music.
The program will run for six months from next month’s 3rd until the end of October and will be held during evenings and weekends to encourage greater citizen participation.
The main contents of the program include color therapy for healing the mind, color experiences suited to individuals, healing art works for beginners, healing journeys into artworks, understanding one’s psychology through art, and classics themed around comfort, love, emotions, and travel.
In October, a small concert is also planned on the library rooftop where attendees can enjoy beautiful melodies while feeling the autumn night atmosphere.
A library official said, “We hope that local residents will have time for healing and therapy through specialized programs in the fields of art and music,” adding, “We will continue to strive to provide opportunities for cultural enjoyment through various programs tailored to the characteristics of the region.”
