[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the 15th, President Moon Jae-in nominated Kim Pil-gon, representative lawyer of Law Firm Oneul, as a candidate for the Central Election Commission management committee member. This move, coinciding with the announcement of the audit committee personnel on the same day, marked the conclusion of consultations over personnel disagreements between the Blue House and the transition team.

Park Soo-hyun, Chief of Public Communication at the Blue House, stated on the 15th, "President Moon has nominated Representative Lawyer Kim as a candidate for the Central Election Commission management committee member."

Born in Daegu in 1963, Kim graduated from Gyeongbuk High School, studied Public Law at Seoul National University, and earned a master's degree in law from Korea University. He has served as Chief Judge of Daegu District Court, Senior Chief Judge of Seoul Northern District Court, Chief Judge of Daejeon District Court, Chairman of the Daejeon Election Commission, and Chief Judge of Seoul High Court.

Chief Park explained, "Candidate Kim is a legal expert who served as a judge for over 30 years until his retirement as Senior Chief Judge of Seoul High Court in February 2021," adding, "During his tenure as Chief Judge of Daejeon District Court in 2018, he also served as Chairman of the Daejeon Metropolitan City Election Commission. Based on his expertise and insight into election law and experience in election management, he is expected to contribute to fair and clean election administration."

This appears to have resolved the personnel controversy between the Blue House and the transition team, coinciding with the audit committee personnel announcement made that day. Previously, the Blue House and the transition team had engaged in a power struggle over personnel issues related to the audit and election commission members.

A Blue House official stated, "We have reached an agreement with the transition team regarding the personnel appointments for the audit and election commission members."
