Sacheon City to Establish Its First Hydrogen Refueling Station in Sacheon General Industrial Complex!

Selected for This Year's Ministry of Environment Private Capital Public Offering Project

Total Project Cost 6 Billion KRW, Completion Target October Next Year

Sacheon City, Gyeongnam, will establish the first hydrogen charging station in the Sacheon General Industrial Complex.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The first large-capacity special hydrogen refueling station in Sacheon-si, Gyeongnam, will be established in the Sacheon General Industrial Complex.

The city was finally selected for the Ministry of Environment's 2022 private capital public offering project for hydrogen refueling station installation, together with Hydrogen Energy Network, which signed a business agreement for hydrogen refueling infrastructure construction.

With a national subsidy of 4.2 billion KRW and an investment of 1.8 billion KRW from Hydrogen Energy Network, a total project cost of 6 billion KRW will be used to build a hydrogen refueling station in Parking Lot 1 of the Sacheon General Industrial Complex.

This special hydrogen refueling station can charge not only hydrogen passenger cars but also hydrogen buses and trucks, with a capacity of over 80 kg/h, allowing two hydrogen buses to be refueled simultaneously.

By the end of this year, administrative procedures such as technical review of the refueling station and building permits will be completed, construction will begin in April next year, and completion is planned for October of the same year.

Hydrogen Energy Network is a special purpose corporation established by 13 companies including Korea Gas Corporation and Hyundai Motor Company for the installation and operation of hydrogen refueling stations, and will be responsible for the installation and operation of the station.

A city official said, “We were selected for the private public offering project for hydrogen refueling stations in the first year of the hydrogen vehicle distribution project. This is welcome news for local residents who hesitated to purchase vehicles due to a lack of refueling stations and will invigorate the private distribution of hydrogen vehicles.”
