Goheung-gun Launches Support Program for Living in Rural Areas

Pilot Project for Prospective Return-to-Farming and Rural Residents: 100-Day Living Experience

[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shim Jeong-woo] Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Song Gwi-geun) announced that it has been selected for the 2022 "Living in the Countryside" contest project hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and has been operating it since April 1st.

"Living in the Countryside" first selects an operating village, and the selected village provides accommodation and rural experience programs to participants. This year, participants will engage in rural experience activities at Saengtaenongwon Sohyang in Geumo Village, Duwon-myeon.

Anyone aged 18 or older living in other cities can apply, and by staying for two months, they can acquire various rural experience activities, interact with residents, and obtain information necessary for settlement. Accommodation is provided free of charge.

In addition, Goheung-gun has independently supported the 100-day living experience project at Hope Nest, a stay-type shelter house, by opening the nation's first Happy School for Returning Farmers and Migrants.

The 100-day living experience allows residents to live in Hope Nest (17 Wayagil, Namyang-myeon) for up to three months by paying a monthly rent of 100,000 KRW, with the advantage of freely experiencing rural life without a fixed program.

An official from the county said, "In addition to the Living in the Countryside and 100-day living experience programs, we plan to conduct the first rural culture experience fam tour for 20 urban residents in May. We will provide opportunities to experience rural life in various ways to help prospective returning farmers and migrants minimize the risks at the implementation stage for successful settlement in the area."
