Attracting Space Experience Cable Car, Constructed with Seawater Circulation
Creating 1,000 Youth Jobs to Prevent Population Decline
[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Park Jin-kwon (50, Democratic Party), a preliminary candidate for Goheung County Governor who challenged the election with the goal of eradicating regional division forces, announced on the 14th through a pledge announcement, "I will change Goheung anew."
First, he proposed attracting the nation's longest marine cable car from Nokdong Space Astronomy Science Museum to Geogeumdo Jeokdaebong and constructing a seawater channel connecting Deukryang Bay and Yeoja Bay in Namyang-myeon as his first pledge.
Candidate Park Jin-kwon diagnosed, "If things continue as they are, the population of Goheung County will drop to the 50,000 range in two years, and the population decline is expected to accelerate to a serious extent," adding, "If we do not boldly innovate and push forward, the future of Goheung will inevitably lead to regional extinction."
The marine cable car, with the longest distance nationwide of about 14 km, will offer views of Sorokdo and the scenic Dadohae, and the Space Astronomy Science Museum plans to develop into a family stay-type space experience tourism project where visitors can observe constellations at night.
Additionally, the seawater channel, spanning 3 km to connect Deukryang Bay and Yeoja Bay, aims to preserve tidal flats, revitalize Goheung cockles and seaweed, and introduce new tourism products linked with the Yeosu Island Bridge.
Through this, the plan is to create 1,000 youth jobs in related industries to try to halt the population decline trend.
He further claimed that with two of the nation's largest attractions, tourists will overflow, and as tourists flock, corporate investments such as large condominiums will increase, transforming the area into a vibrant region.
Preliminary candidate Park stated, "If we keep hesitating and weighing options, four years will pass in vain," and insisted, "If we do not boldly declare and push forward, the future of our Goheung will be bleak and will continue to be devastated by division and conflict as it is now."
Park Jin-kwon was born in Goheung-eup, Goheung County, graduated from Goheungdong Elementary School, Gwangju Dongsin High School, and Chosun University with a degree in Political Science and Diplomacy. He served as the president of Jeonnam JC in 2010, deputy head of the central election campaign organization for President Lee Jae-myung, and was a member of the 11th Jeollanam-do Provincial Assembly.
