[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] It has been revealed that the two children of Jeong Ho-young, nominee for Minister of Health and Welfare, volunteered at Kyungpook National University Hospital, where their father was employed, before transferring to the Kyungpook National University College of Medicine as bachelor's degree transfer students.

According to data submitted by Kyungpook National University to Rep. Kim Won-i of the Democratic Party on the 14th, the daughter who was admitted through the '2017 Academic Year Kyungpook National University College of Medicine Bachelor's Degree Transfer Admission' in December 2016 wrote in her self-introduction letter, one of the application documents, that she volunteered at Kyungpook National University Hospital from January 11 to 15 and July 25 to 29 of the same year.

The daughter stated that her volunteer duties included patient transportation and assisting in the examination room, with a total of 20 volunteer sessions amounting to 70 hours.

The son, who transferred to Kyungpook National University College of Medicine in 2018, also wrote that he volunteered at Kyungpook National University Hospital from January 19 to 23, 2015, January 11 to 15, 2016, and July 25 to 29, 2016.

The son wrote that he assisted with patient transportation and organizing supplies, with a total of 25 volunteer sessions amounting to 85 hours.

Volunteer activity scores were included in the evaluation criteria for the bachelor's degree transfer application documents. According to the transfer guidelines for Kyungpook National University College of Medicine in 2017 and 2018, the 'major aptitude' section evaluates whether the applicant has experience or activities as a volunteer or leader.

During 2015-2016, when the two children volunteered at Kyungpook National University Hospital, nominee Jeong was serving as the deputy director and head of medical affairs. He was appointed hospital director in August 2017. Jeong's daughter transferred to Kyungpook National University College of Medicine in 2017, and his son in 2018. The college operated the undergraduate transfer system only for four years, from the 2017 to 2020 academic years.

Regarding the controversy over his two children's transfer to Kyungpook National University College of Medicine, nominee Jeong stated, "There was no special treatment," and added, "I have never considered resigning."
