[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] Hanwha Systems is holding an industry-academia cooperation launch ceremony for ‘Joint Research on Future Core Artificial Intelligence Technologies’ with Korea University Artificial Intelligence Engineering Research Institute.

On the 14th, Hanwha Systems announced that starting with this launch ceremony, it plans to expand cooperation with various experts not only in the fundamental AI technology research and development that has been ongoing with Korea University AI Engineering Research Institute but also to quickly apply AI solutions in actual industrial sites. In particular, it is expected to produce tangible results by shifting from the existing cooperation program focused on training AI experts to research based on real cases applicable to commercialization.

Since 2017, Hanwha Systems has selected AI as a core strategic business area in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution and has focused on related technology research. In 2019, it established a joint research center with Korea University College of Engineering to conduct AI research where humans and technology coexist and to collaborate on nurturing related experts. In 2020, it launched the AI brand ‘HAIQV,’ optimized for next-generation digital transformation projects and non-face-to-face business. In March of this year, it officially launched the AI-based university academic, education, and employment support solution brand ‘ai-CODI.’

Kim Yoo-shin, Head of Future Business Division at Hanwha Systems, stated, “AI technology is already being actively applied in various industries, and technological advancement is accelerating exponentially,” adding, “Through joint research on core AI technologies that can be immediately applied in the field with AI experts from various sectors, we will create meaningful outcomes such as strengthening technological competitiveness and securing AI business capabilities.”
