Naver Applies 'Dolby Vision' to Live Commerce to "Minimize Live Commerce Limitations"

Naver Applies 'Dolby Vision' to Live Commerce to "Minimize Live Commerce Limitations"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Naver announced on the 14th that it will introduce ‘Naver Shopping Live’ content applying Dolby Laboratories’ advanced video technology ‘Dolby Vision’ for the first time in the world.

Dolby Vision delivers vivid image quality with outstanding brightness, contrast, color, and detail, and is chosen by leading global creative companies and creators. It expands the color palette from millions to billions, supporting a wider range of colors and up to 100 times greater brightness range compared to standard video. This enables more realistic images with deep contrast, rich detail, lifelike colors, and textures.

Naver expects that applying Dolby Vision will minimize the limitations of live commerce. Sellers and brands can use Dolby Vision technology to accurately reproduce colors, textures, and fabrics that are difficult to express properly online, delivering product features vividly to viewers and providing a shopping experience as if in real life.

Additionally, Dolby Vision can accurately and consistently represent the appearance of products according to the seller’s intent across various viewing environments. This allows consumers to enjoy an overall enhanced shopping experience.

The Dolby Vision technology will first be applied to video content produced in Naver Shopping Live’s dedicated studio and will gradually expand to general video content within Shopping Live. Currently, users can enjoy Shopping Live content produced with Dolby Vision through Android, iOS, and Mac OS Safari.

Jung Seong-taek, Head of Naver E-Labs, said, “In fields such as beauty, fashion, and food, where accurate delivery of product appearance is important, Dolby Vision technology, which excellently reproduces vivid colors and textures of products, is expected to elevate the user experience to a new level,” adding, “We will continue to lead the live commerce ecosystem through ongoing technology development and advancement.”
