14th Samsung Electronics DS 'Witok' Hosted
"Overcome the limitations of semiconductors with packaging solutions to deliver the best value our customers desire and contribute to the advancement of humanity."
Jang Sung-jin, Executive Vice President and Head of Samsung Electronics' Test and System Package (TSP), emphasized packaging solutions at the Device Solutions (DS) division communication forum, 'WeTalk.'
According to Samsung Electronics on the 14th, EVP Jang presided over the 14th WeTalk session of the DS division held the previous day.
TSP is one of the most notable organizations recently within Samsung Electronics' DS division. While traditional packaging involved simply encasing wafers and connecting wires, it has recently evolved into connecting semiconductors with various functionalities.
In particular, the importance of packaging is increasingly highlighted in the foundry (contract manufacturing) sector, where Samsung Electronics is heavily investing. Semiconductors required for autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence (AI), and data centers mostly demand advanced packaging technologies.
EVP Jang stated, "TSP is uniquely equipped with packaging capabilities for both memory and system semiconductors," adding, "We will leverage our comprehensive packaging strengths to create new growth and market momentum." He also mentioned the rising importance of packaging due to soaring investments in advanced nodes and process limitations, emphasizing, "Let's overcome semiconductor limitations with packaging solutions."
He stressed that in the continuously growing packaging market, the semiconductor business will sustain growth not only through existing 2D technologies but also through 2.5D and 3D packaging solutions. "To this end, we will further strengthen cooperation with business units and customers," he said.
Furthermore, EVP Jang encouraged TSP division employees, saying, "Through our slogan, ‘A culture like eternal spring,’ let us respect each other, grow together, and foster an energetic culture," and promised, "We will make great efforts so that everyone can feel proud to be a TSP member."
He concluded the WeTalk by sharing the poem ‘On Nights When I Dreamed of Stars’ by poet Kim Bong-seok. He expressed, "I hope our employees can spread their wings and soar high with a peaceful mind, just like the poem’s message."
Meanwhile, WeTalk, launched in December last year, is a communication program led by Kyung Kye-hyun, President of Samsung Electronics DS division, for sessions 1 to 5, and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Jung Eun-sung for the 6th session. Recently, dancer Monica, who participated in Street Woman Fighter, also appeared as a speaker, drawing significant attention. The program features real-time broadcasts and chats every Wednesday afternoon for an hour, allowing employees to engage in candid conversations.
