Gyeongju Cultural Heritage Research Institute and Gyeongju Museum Joint Academic Research

Cooperation for Special Exhibition Opening and Report Publication

The National Gyeongju Cultural Heritage Research Institute signed a business agreement on the 12th with the National Gyeongju Museum for joint academic research. They will cooperate for the hosting of special exhibitions and the publication of reports. The former is the special exhibition "Nangsan, the Road to Doricheon" held by the National Gyeongju Museum in June. The National Gyeongju Cultural Heritage Research Institute will showcase relics from Sacheonwangsa Temple that it investigated independently. The latter is "Silla Royal Capital Mokgan." The research results of Silla written materials held by the two institutions are expected to be compiled together. Mokgan (木簡) refers to wooden slips on which writing is inscribed. The National Gyeongju Cultural Heritage Research Institute explained, "Mokgan excavated from Gyeongju Wolseong and Anapji will be introduced," adding, "It is scheduled to be published on June 30." The two institutions also jointly restored and researched the 'Green-glazed Guardian Statue Screen'?a sculpture found in the base of the wooden pagoda at Sacheonwangsa Temple?in 2017.
