Ulsan City Selected for Ministry of Employment and Labor's 'Regional Industry Customized Job Creation Support Project' Competition
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Ulsan City will sign a business agreement for the ‘Preemptive Employment Stability Bundle Support Project’ and the ‘Regional Innovation Project’ at 10:30 a.m. on the 12th at City Hall.
This business agreement was prepared after these projects were selected in the regional and industry-customized job creation support project contest hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
Participants in the event include Ulsan City, Ulsan Employment and Labor Office of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, Buk-gu, Ulju-gun, Ulsan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Ulsan Regional Human Resources Development Committee), Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency, Ulsan Job Foundation, Ulsan Yangsan Employers’ Association, and Naeun Tomorrow Research Institute.
Ulsan City plans to announce the start of this year’s ‘Preemptive Employment Stability Package Support Project’ and ‘Regional Innovation Project’ on this day.
The ‘Package Support Project,’ an agreement among four institutions including Ulsan City, Ulsan Employment and Labor Office, Buk-gu, and Ulju-gun, is a method where regions concerned about employment crises plan and promote ‘mid- to long-term job projects’ led by the region in connection with industrial and economic policies, and the central government supports them to proactively respond to employment stability.
This project was first selected last year as a five-year project under a consortium of Ulsan City, Buk-gu, and Ulju-gun. This year, as the second year of the project, through the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s contest procedure, it secured a total project budget of 7.07 billion KRW, including 5.6 billion KRW in national funds and 1.47 billion KRW in local funds by the end of March.
Ulsan City and the consortium members Buk-gu and Ulju-gun aim to create 1,062 jobs this year through three project initiatives: ▲Job Online Platform Quality Up, ▲Job Value Up, and ▲Future Car Job Jump Up.
The ‘Regional Innovation Project,’ involving seven institutions including Ulsan City, Ulsan Employment and Labor Office, Ulsan Job Foundation, and Ulsan Yangsan Employers’ Association, aims to improve employment and job quality for a total of 545 people by carrying out the ‘Shipbuilding Industry Vitality Project’ and the ‘Petrochemical Stability Project.’
Five detailed sub-projects will also be promoted.
A total project budget of 2.35 billion KRW, including 1.74 billion KRW in national funds and 610 million KRW in local funds, will be invested.
Key projects include K-Shipbuilding Reboot and the creation of a sustainable win-win ecosystem for shipbuilding jobs, such as ▲Shipbuilding Tomorrow Savings Program (450 people), ▲Shipbuilding Mismatch Resolution Job Matching Database Matching Day Project, and the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Shipbuilding Specialized Job Fair.
Additionally, to respond to the major transition of the petrochemical industry toward ‘decarbonization’ and to establish a foundation for job creation, projects such as ▲Training of Smart Plant Specialists in the Petrochemical Industry and ▲Support for Advanced Automation Technology in Petrochemical Processes (15 companies) will be implemented.
An official from Ulsan City said, “Nine institutions have signed an agreement to successfully promote the regional and industry-customized job creation support projects,” adding, “We will actively utilize the experience and foundation of each institution to further enhance the synergistic effect of job creation.”
