[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) announced on the 11th that it signed a practical cooperation agreement with Jungnang Police Station, Jungnang Fire Station, and the 4th Battalion of the Army’s 3298 Unit to create a safe and happy Jungnang.
This business agreement among the four institutions for immediate cooperative response in crisis situations is the first case among local governments nationwide and was prepared to protect the lives, bodies, and property of Jungnang residents from various crisis situations threatening their safety.
Through this agreement, Jungnang-gu Office, Jungnang Police Station, Jungnang Fire Station, and the military unit aim to build a strengthened administrative infrastructure to make Jungnang-gu strong in crisis response.
According to the agreement, the four institutions will share an emergency contact system by field necessary for immediate cooperative response in crisis situations. It also includes the ambition to conclude incidents within the golden time by establishing mutual support and cooperation systems.
The agreement also includes support for manpower and equipment for joint response in crisis situations. With the signing of the agreement, rapid and flawless responses are expected when fires, terrorism, and other situations occur in the region.
Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “I am pleased to establish a cooperative system with related local institutions to protect residents,” and added, “We will do our best to make Jungnang-gu even safer and happier in the future.”
Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Gyeom-su) will hold a blood donation event to commemorate the spirit of the April 19 Revolution.
As a side event of the ‘April 19 Revolution National Cultural Festival 2022,’ the district will hold blood donation events on April 15 and 18. This event, in cooperation with the Korean Red Cross Seoul Eastern Blood Center, will take place on the first day from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Gangbuk-gu Office parking lot, and on the second day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the blood donation bus at the April 19 event site.
Since this blood donation is held during a sensitive period due to COVID-19, it will be conducted in compliance with quarantine rules. The bus will be disinfected, and temperature checks, mask-wearing, and hand sanitizer placement for donors will be thoroughly inspected to ensure all participants can donate safely.
An official from the district urged participants to check their eligibility carefully, noting that blood donation is not allowed for 7 days after vaccination, 7 days after symptoms disappear if there are adverse reactions to vaccination, and for 4 weeks after recovering from COVID-19.
Park Gyeom-su, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, said, “I hope this blood donation event will be a meaningful opportunity to honor the spirit of resistance of the April 19 Revolution and awaken the spirit of sacrifice for the community,” adding, “I hope it will help alleviate the blood supply shortage caused by COVID-19, and we will continue to strive to practice neighborly sharing.”
Mapo-gu (Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun) will conduct ‘visiting depression screening and psychological counseling’ for job seekers experiencing depression and anxiety due to unemployment or economic difficulties amid the prolonged COVID-19 situation.
The district added that this counseling was planned for unemployed people who hesitate to seek psychiatric treatment due to social stigma and economic burdens despite suffering from depression.
In cooperation with the Seoul Western Employment Welfare Center, mental health professional counselors from Mapo-gu will visit the center on the first and third Thursdays of each month to provide counseling to job seekers who wish to receive it.
The professional counselors will provide preventive specialized counseling to address psychological issues such as psychological pressure, depression, and suicide that may occur during job preparation.
They will also conduct screening tests for each individual based on stress scale, depression scale (CE-D), and suicide scale (SSI).
Based on the screening results, high-risk groups judged to require continuous counseling will be managed through the Mental Health Welfare Center and linked to psychiatric medical institutions for treatment, establishing a continuous depression screening system.
In addition, in June, Mapo-gu plans to conduct a life-love campaign to raise awareness of life respect culture in cooperation with welfare centers and mental health welfare centers within the district.
Suicide prevention education will also be provided to elementary, middle, and high schools in Mapo-gu, and life guardian training will be conducted for teachers, welfare center workers, and residents.
An official from the district said, “As the economic structure is reorganized due to COVID-19, unemployment is increasing,” adding, “We will do our best to help overcome difficulties caused by unemployment and other factors.”
