[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Kosin University Gospel Hospital signed a business agreement on the morning of the 8th at 10 a.m. in the first conference room of the City Education Office with the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education and two organizations including the Busan Atopy and Asthma Education Information Center to create “Schools Safe from Food Allergies.”

The event was held to establish a cooperative system with specialized related organizations to create schools safe from food allergies and to smoothly operate alternative school meal menus for food allergies. According to this agreement, Gospel Hospital and the Education Information Center will support medical treatment and management of students with food allergies, as well as prevention education and counseling for students and parents with food allergies.

Since 2019, Gospel Hospital and the Center, together with the City Education Office, have been conducting the nation’s first pilot project for alternative school meal menus for food allergies targeting 20 schools in the Busan area, including 18 elementary schools and 2 high schools.

This year, the project will be expanded to cover a total of 35 schools, including the existing 20 schools and all 15 special schools in the Busan area.

Along with the agreement with the City Education Office’s School Life Education Division, the “I’m Confident! Food Allergy” camp will be held online on the 16th.

Since 2014, Kosin University Gospel Hospital has been operating the Busan Atopy and Asthma Education Information Center and has carried out various activities to prevent and eradicate asthma and various allergic diseases at daycare centers, kindergartens, elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools in the Busan area.

Superintendent Kim Seok-jun said, “Alternative menus for food allergies have been very helpful in allowing students with food allergies to consume safe and balanced nutrition,” and added, “I hope this agreement will be an opportunity to form healthy eating habits for children, the future generation, and to create schools safe from food allergies.”

Hospital Director Oh Kyung-seung said, “We hope to join forces to establish a safe school meal environment from food, one of the main causes of allergies.”
