Kim Bohyun, former spokesperson of the Presidential Committee on Balanced National Development, declaring candidacy for the Gwangju Seo-gu Office Chief in the nationwide local elections on June 1, at the Gwangju Metropolitan Council on the 24th of last month.
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jin-Hyung Park] Kim Bo-Hyun, a preliminary candidate for the Seo-gu District Mayor election and former spokesperson for the Presidential Committee on Balanced National Development under President Moon Jae-In, announced the 'Seo-gu Public Education and Childcare Triple Set' policy.
Candidate Kim emphasized that childcare, nursing, and education should be the responsibility of the public sector and proposed detailed policies including ▲operation of school commute helpers called 'School Mom' ▲provision of free public college entrance exam consulting ▲installation of public childcare sharing centers called 'DoranDoran Momter'.
'School Mom' is a community public job policy that utilizes housewives' spare time to ensure the safety and care of Seo-gu children with a mother's heart. He plans to first operate this in school-adjacent areas such as Sangmu District, Geumho District, and Pungam District, then expand it throughout Seo-gu.
Additionally, during school vacations, a meal assistance program for dual-income families will be provided in cooperation with the education office.
He also promised a 'public free college entrance exam consulting' policy where the administration directly intervenes to revive Seo-gu as a premium education city. Seo-gu will create an integrated education portal to support children from low-income families to access famous free online education courses, focusing on resolving educational gaps and inequality.
The shared childcare center ‘DoranDoran Momter’ is a space where mothers exhausted from solo parenting can communicate, interact, and rest. It will consist of ondol rooms equipped with cooking facilities and bathrooms, and will be furnished with toys and educational tools to serve both as a care and a community room.
Candidate Kim said, “Education and childcare are the most important elements for creating a livable region and the future of Seo-gu,” adding, “This is a declaration to move away from election battles filled with political strife and toward policy-based elections.”
He also expressed his ambition, stating, “Upon election, I will form a task force to implement customized pledges for Seo-gu’s development and future.”
