On that day, President Moon mentioned on his Twitter, "I wasn't paying attention to the number of followers, but today I suddenly saw that it had reached 2,005,000."
He continued, "Twitter has been an important means of communication since I entered politics," and "I would like to thank those who have always sent me encouragement and love through tweets."
He also expressed hope to continue communicating through Twitter even after his retirement. He said, "I look forward to having new conversations about a new life, away from politics."

President Moon has been communicating with citizens through Twitter since December 2011. In April 2016, while serving as a member of the National Assembly, he became the first domestic politician to surpass 1 million followers. He is also the only domestic politician to exceed 2 million followers.
Meanwhile, on the 30th of last month, President Moon attended the 15th Seongpa Great Monk Inauguration Ceremony of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism held at Jogyesa Temple, where he expressed, "I will do my best during the remaining time and then return to nature to live a forgotten life, a free life."
At the New Year's press conference in January 2020, President Moon also said that after retirement, he wanted to "return as a forgotten person." While some speculated that he would distance himself from politics after retirement, his Twitter message on this day is interpreted as indicating his intention to continue communication with the public.
